the lot in your life

So many Christians are in the world thinking God has forgotten about them. Some are so confused going round same circle several times and some are not sure where the wind of life will blow them. Some are permanently on a stop, while case of some is one step forward, two steps backward. The life of some is so messed up that they are even asking God why He created them to this world much like the children of Israel were asking Moses why he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

I believe after reading this message you will rediscover yourself and your cry will come to an end. In Gen 12:1 God told Abram to leave his father's land and move to a land which He would show him; and in that same land He would bless him and make him father of many nations. In verse four of the same chapter the Bible tells us Abram yielded to God's instruction and left his father's land. But instead of leaving alone, he left with his cousin, Lot. Abram and Lot lived together in their new land, but the story was still the same in Abram's life. Instead of Abram starting to live God's promise for him, he got stagnation, confusion and fighting. Lot and Abram's men were always at war with each other. Even, the promise of blessing Abram with a child did not come to fulfillment.

In the chapter, we found Abram left his fathers house at the age of seventy-five. Abram and Lot lived together for about fifteen years without God's promise coming to pass for him. Being a God who does not fail on his words, one may wonder, why? Simple answer, God's plans for Abram did not include Lot.  Lot was an extra or an unwanted luggage in Gods plan for Abram and so for God to fulfill His promises to Abram the extra or excess luggage must be thrown out.

In chapter 13:14 we were made to understand that Lot's departure marked a complete turn around in Abram's life and fortune. The Bible tells us that God appeared to Abram and asked him to lift up his eyes and see as far as he could and He promised to give it to him. Right there, Abram started enjoying the promises of God for his life. The question that would readily agitate anybody's mind is why did God do this? The simple answer is that God sensed some level of disobedience in Abram.  God's agenda for Abram did not include Lot and anything that is not of God CANNOT be included in His plans and also, being a God who knows all and could tell the future, He knew that Lot's family would eventually be a bad and negative influence on Abram's son, Isaac. We remember that Lot had two wives and daughters who drank excessively and who made their father drunk to make love to them. Should they still live with Abram, they would have had a negative impact on Isaac's growth and development in the ways of the Lord.

Just like Abram, a lot of us, Christians, today are carrying excess luggage in our lives and still asking God to fulfill His plan for us.  I believe that God will not do it until we let go the Lots' in our respective lives. One must identify the Lot in ones life and say bye to him or it today. With your Lot's departure, God will fulfill His agenda in your live. Some have their friends as their Lots. To some, it is their work. It could be one of your habits or it could even be some or all of your family members that you have to move away from. You might even need to relocate yourself.  Remember God had to relocate Abram before blessing him.

I hope and pray that after reading this message your eyes will open to the Lot in your life and you will be courageous enough to say leave my life, depart from me so that God's plan for my life may come to pass.
