lord, i'm in the valley- save me!

A young lady woke up one morning to pray. She picked up her notebook and a blunt yellow pencil she had previously used a night before while observing quiet time with the Lord. She was a born-again Christian, but her life was actually nothing to write home about. She had just finished praising God on that particular morning, and with her tear stained eyes she desperately searched through the scripture, seeking a word from God.

Suddenly, she came across a Bible passage that caught her attention. It was taken from the book of Psalms 42:1-10. As she read and meditated on this passage, she made up her mind that very day that her situation and destiny must certainly change for the best and she promised to praise, and worship God for the rest of her life.

Flashbacks of her life's failures, struggles, and shortcomings beclouded her mind, as she thought nothing came easy at all. No matter how hard she tried, she seemed to always be the least amongst her peers. She was the laughing stock of many who had asked her, "Where is your God?"

Finally, she came back to herself and spoke out loud to the Lord saying, "I'm desperately in need of your help Lord to completely change my situation."  She immediately jumped to her feet, grabbed her notebook and blunt yellow pencil, in expectation of Word from God, and rushed to the bathroom. Suddenly, her pencil fell into the toilet. She exclaimed OH NO!! in despair. Her first reaction was to throw the recovered pencil in the trash. Instead, the Lord expressed such revelation like she never thought possible by thinking, speaking, and acting out the following seven things that happened to her that morning:

1. She saw that pencil as a symbol of her life situations. Outwardly, she appeared bright and well, but the bluntness of the yellow pencil portrayed her limitations and ineffectiveness.

2. The toilet filled with water where the pencil fell symbolized her miry clay and valley living as a Christian.

3. She caught revelation that God was pulling her out of the miry clay and valley the same way she pulled the pencil out of the toilet. And that the clean toilet brush used to pull out the pencil and the white tissue paper used to hold and clean it represented God's rod and staff that guides and comforts us according to Psalm 23: 4 and the way the Lord who is Holy, Pure, and Righteous, sanctifies us respectively.

4. The soap used to wash the pencil symbolizes how God washes us of our filthiness and makes us clean, pure, and whole before Him.

5.  The water used to rinse the pencil represents Jesus, the fountain of life, (John 4:14) pouring the Holy Spirit on one who was once in sin and shame.

6. She caught revelation she needed to sharpen the cleaned pencil, symbolizing the need for the word of God to sharpen (Hebrews 4:12) us and make us ready for His use.

7.  The once blunt yellow pencil she had previously struggled to use in writing had now become the sharp instrument in which she wrote this story.

Brethren, as God took the lady from the valley, may He save you from whatever hindrances you have and help you reach your God ordained destinies. His spoken and written purposes concerning your life even before the world began will surely come to pass. You will fight a good fight. You will finish your race 2 Timothy 4:12.

Ask the Lord for something special today, and thank Him even before receiving those things. For those that are not born-again, ask the Lord to wash away your sins. Ask Him to come into your heart and be your Lord and Savior today in Jesus name, Amen! May the Lord's mercy and grace see you through in Jesus mighty name, Amen! Stay blessed now and forever more!
